Tribute for Pam Miller

Cultural Exchange for Diplomats' Tribute Fund for Pam Miller is offered as a way to honor and recognize her long-time service as an active volunteer and friend to many. Pam passed away in April 2024. Funds raised will support Pam’s commitment to children and families by offering family-friendly CED programs for diplomats. One example highlighted was an exciting pirate cruise on the Potomac for which children can dress in costume, enjoy pirate food and have a fun excursion on the river. Other family activities will also be initiated in her memory.

Pam’s husband Bo and long-time volunteer Katie Barney have generously offered to match all contributions up to $4,000 — Bo up to $3,000 and Katie up to $1,000.

Pam had been an active THIS volunteer for many years. In the last several years, she annually hosted a Mother’s Day tea at the Belle Haven Country Club which many diplomats and volunteers enjoyed. Earlier, she co-led a number of THIS events (some with Jacqui Michel) and was the lead organizer on many events. These included a tour of the National Geographic exhibit of the Chinese terra cotta warriors; a day-long visit, luncheon and house tour in Easton, MD, with Katie Barney; and special events at a number of embassies including Germany, Egypt, and Bahrain. She was a member of the NoVA cultural exchange and the Architecture, Gardens and Home Design committee.

Pam passed away after many years dealing with the effects of radiation for thyroid cancer and multiple bouts of severe pneumonia.  Her daughter Kristin, now Kristin Rumberger Butler, served in THIS management staff before Pam joined the organization. She said: "My Mom was a hero and I’m so grateful to this group that plans to honor her!

Bo summed it up beautifully: “Knowing how much my wife loved and contributed to then-THIS, I find this a very fitting way to honor her memory in a way she would treasure.”

Thank you to all the individuals who gave in remembrance of longtime CED volunteer Pam Miller.
